Even though it may feel like mission impossible, you can make her orgasm twice, according to a recent study from Indiana University and the sexual education site OMGYES.
After asking 1,055 women across all age groups extremely detailed questions about what they like in bed, researchers found that a surprising 47 percent of women reported experiencing more than one orgasm. (They also discovered exactly how you should be touching her clitoris to make her orgasm the first time.)
So, you know it can be done—but how do you get her there twice? Luckily, the researchers delved into that question, too. Here are the three most popular touching techniques that women liked the most after their first orgasm. Try them in bed tonight for round two.
CONTINUE TO TOUCH HER IN THE SAME WAY TO GIVE HER MULTIPLE ORGASMS
If a certain technique worked once, it may work again, the study found. Of the women who reported multiple orgasms in the study, about 34 percent of them said that continuing with the same kind of stimulation felt best after their first orgasm.
That means she either wants you to touch her in the same place or with the same rhythm, says lead study author and Men’s Health sex advisor Debby Herbenick, Ph.D.
The most popular spot? A majority of women prefer being touched directly on their clitoris, while 45 percent like being touched alongside, above, or below the clitoris. As for how, 64 percent of women liked an up and down touch, while 52 percent gave circular movements two thumbs up.
The Secret to Her Orgasm:“Some men back off, thinking that her clitoris might be too sensitive after her first orgasm, but that’s not every woman’s experience,” she explains.
You won’t know unless you ask her, though, since some women are too sensitive to be touched in the same exact spot after orgasm. If that’s the case, read on to find out what other technique might work best.
REBUILD THE INTENSITY TO GIVE HER MULTIPLE ORGASMS
About 53 percent of women who had multiple orgasms said returning to earlier types of touching to “rebuild” to another orgasm felt the best, the study found.
“Some women want to return to a lower intensity or need a brief break from the kind of stimulation that helped them reach orgasm,” says Herbenick.
This typically means that after she orgasms once, you can return to a slow touch and build back up to a faster touch, says Herbenick. Since the women surveyed preferred returning to earlier types of stimulation, try focusing on the same areas and rhythms you used the first time before trying something new. (More on that below.)
Keep in mind that you don’t have to go straight for her clitoris, especially if it’s super sensitive right after she orgasms. Showing other parts of her body some love—like one of these secret erogenous zones—gives you an excuse to work her back up and keep her in the mood while allowing her more sensitive spots time to bounce back.
TOUCH HER IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WAY TO GIVE HER MULTIPLE ORGASMS
Some women—roughly 33 percent,—like variety, says Herbenick.
For instance, if she enjoyed a quick, frenzied, and concentrated touch—like small circular movements—during her first orgasm, but wants to go a completely different route after that, you can try a slower, more gentle approach, like skirting around her clitoris without directly touching it, explains Herbenick.
That means it can go the other way, too. If her first orgasm was the result of slow, gentle pressure, she may prefer a faster touch with more pressure the second time around.
And that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to use your hands again if that made her orgasm the first time. A completely different touch can come from your tongue or a vibrator, too. Trying one of these oral sex moves or upgrading to a sex toy (like this awesome bullet vibrator form the Men’s Health store) can make the encore even more intense for both of you.
