WASHINGTON DC – Head of the United States. General Joseph Votel, Central Command (CENTCOM), lauded the role of Pakistan in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
While briefing in the Senate, the general said, “We have had some success with Pakistan, they have been more helpful in bringing the Taliban to the [peace negotiating] table. As we asked them, we have seen cases where they have taken action against safe haven areas.
“Obviously, they can do more, and we encouraged them to continue to do that, but we saw some positive signs,” he added.
The comments came after Pakistan announced that it had seized 182 rseminaries as part of a crackdown against banned outfits.
