Amala Paul alleges sexual advances by a stranger; cops arrest a businessman
In what could be considered as a shocking development, popular actress Amala Paul has been sexually harassed by a stranger. She filed a case at the T Nagar police station in Chennai and the cops have arrested a businessman in connection with the case on Wednesday, January 31.
After filing the case, Amala Paul narrated the incident. According to her, the man had approached her while she was doing a rehearsal for a song and made sexual advances.
“I’m going to Malaysia for an event. I went to dance practice for that event. While I was practising, he came inside. He spoke as though he was part of the event. He spoke to me like he was someone known at the event. He spoke to me personally when I was alone inside.
That’s why I have complained. He has spoken like he was conducting a sexual trade, for a favour,” The News Minute quotes her as saying.
The incident occurred at Kollywood choreographer Sridhar’s dance studio.
Following the complaint, the cops reacted quickly and arrested a man named Alagesan under Sections 354A (Sexual harassment), 509 (Uttering any word or making any gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, reports The Hindu.
