Crown Prince discusses anti-terror efforts with UK minister

LONDON – Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, met here on Friday with British Secretary of State for Defense Gavin Williamson, Saudi Press Agency reported.

During the meeting at the North Holt Air Base they reviewed bilateral relations, the means of strategic cooperation and developing defense, military and anti-terrorism efforts.

They also discussed promising opportunities in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030, in addition to developments in the Middle East and the world and efforts being exerted to combat terrorism and extremism.

Upon the arrival of Crown Prince Muhammad to the military base, Typhoon fighter jets performed a fly-past to welcome him, along with a guard of honor while the national anthems were played.

The two sides expressed their satisfaction on the issues discussed and the mechanisms for joint coordination in this regard.

Prince Muhammad and the British minister signed two memorandums and coordinated arrangements to strengthen defense capabilities and deepen cooperation and partnership through the transfer of technology, industrial partnership, training, research and development and technical consultation in accordance with Vision 2030.

Later, memorandums of understanding and arrangements for strengthening military cooperation in a number of areas were signed.

The Crown Prince also inspected a number of BAE Systems’ products and the contribution of Saudi companies working in the military field and he was briefed on the company’s future plans to further transfer and localize technology, train and employ Saudi citizens.

The meeting was attended by the military delegation accompanying the Crown Prince and a number of senior officials of British Ministry of Defense.

In another development, Crown Prince Muhammad met on Friday with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, SPA said Friday.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations, aspects of joint cooperation in different fields, apart from the latest developments in the Middle East and the efforts being exerted in this regard so as to enhance security and stability. SPA & Al Arabiya English.
