PTI MNA Siraj Muhammad Khan defects to PML-N

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Siraj Muhammad Khan the joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday, expressing confidence on the ruling party’s leadership.

Siraj made the announcement after a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif at the residence of PML-N KP President Amir Muqam.

Khan was elected from the National Assembly constituency NA-6 Nowshera-II in the 2013 general elections.

On April 7, Ramesh Kumar Vankani, a member of the National Assembly on a minority seat from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), joined Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday, echoing the PTI chief’s claims that the Sharif family is making efforts to hide its corruption by disrespecting the judiciary.

Kumar made the announcement during a joint press conference with the PTI chief in the federal capital Islamabad.

“I refused to be a part of the PML-N after the language and stance they adopted following the Panama Papers case,” the MNA said.

Responding to a question, the MNA said, “I hope Chaudhry Nisar joins PTI too”  to which Imran Khan added that the “party had just started”.

While, on April 9, in another major setback to the ruling PML-N, six MNAs and two MPAs decided to part ways with the ruling party and form a new political alliance by the name of South Punjab Front.

The announcement was made in a press conference in Lahore by MNA Khusro Bakhtiar from Rahim Yar Khan along with other lawmakers, including MNA Tahir Bashir Cheema from Bahawalnagar, MNA Rana Qasim Noon from Multan, MNA Basit Bukhari from Muzaffargarh, MNA Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry from Vehari, and MPAs Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dareshak from Rajanpur and Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht from Rahim Yar Khan.

They, however, have not announced to join any other political party yet.

On March 8, PML-N MNA Raza Hayat Hiraj had joined the PTI.

Hiraj met with PTI chief Imran Khan at party leader Jahangir Tareen’s residence in Islamabad, the PTI said.
